NRNA Leadership Meets FNCCI to Strengthen Diaspora Collaboration and Investment in Nepal


Kathmandu, The newly elected leadership of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), led by President Dr. Hem Raj Sharma, met with the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI) in Kathmandu. The meeting highlighted the strong relationship between NRNA and FNCCI and their shared commitment to supporting the Nepali diaspora and promoting investment in Nepal.

Dr. Sharma thanked FNCCI for the warm welcome and recalled the organization’s early days, acknowledging the important role FNCCI played in supporting NRNA’s establishment. He emphasized that NRNA has now moved beyond past differences and stands united, with NRNs ready to contribute as true partners in Nepal’s development. He also appreciated FNCCI for organizing the welcome program.

Highlighting the immense potential of the Nepali diaspora, Dr. Sharma encouraged stronger collaboration to promote investment in Nepal. He also raised concerns about the growing trend of young Nepalis leaving the country for education and employment, stressing the need to create opportunities at home to retain talent.

Senior Vice President Robin Prasad Sherchan shared NRNA’s vision for investment and development, including plans for projects such as an NRN Hospital and an NRNA Retirement Care Center, inspired by models in Japan. He emphasized the importance of working closely with FNCCI to move these initiatives forward.

Vice Presidents Rojin Pradhan Rai and Gopi Kafle highlighted the challenges NRNs face in investment and sought FNCCI’s support in facilitating coordination with the government. Secretary Dinesh Khatri discussed a proposed public transport project in Kathmandu, pointing to its potential benefits for the country’s development.

General Secretary Dr. Chiranjibi Khadka invited FNCCI to participate in upcoming NRNA meetings, while Vice President Roshan Thapa stressed the need to build a long-term investment environment by connecting diaspora resources and expertise.

Treasurer Bharat Raj Acharya shared insights into FNCCI’s development approach and organizational structure, expressing his खुशी to see a united NRNA and renewed momentum for collaboration. Vice President Sur Krishana Baidhya also congratulated the team and encouraged greater investment in Nepal.

Welcoming the delegation, FNCCI President Chandra Dhakal congratulated the NRNA leadership on successfully organizing the 12th International General Assembly (IGA) and praised the message of unity it conveyed. He reaffirmed that FNCCI is ready to facilitate NRNA’s investment initiatives in Nepal and committed to working closely with NRNA moving forward.

The meeting was attended by NRNA leadership, including ICC members, IES and OB members, the CEO, NCC Presidents, and NRNs from various countries, along with FNCCI officials.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both NRNA and FNCCI expressing strong commitment to deepen collaboration and work together for Nepal’s economic growth and development.
