19th Godawari Flower Exhibition to Be Held in Jawalakhel, Targets Rs.thirteen Million in Sales

Kathmandu: The 19th Godawari Flower Competition and Exhibition is set to take place at Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, from October 29 to November 2, 2026, aiming to generate more than Rs. thirteen million in business during the five-day event.

Organized by the Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN), the exhibition will be held under the slogan, “Plant Godawari Flowers, Beautify Your Home and Surroundings.” The organizers expect more than 39,000 visitors to attend the event, which coincides with the peak flower-buying season for Tihar and Chhath festivals.

The exhibition aims to promote the commercial production, development, expansion, and marketing of Godawari flowers while providing a platform for domestic growers to showcase and sell their products.

The event was announced at a press conference held on Tuesday.

More Than 450 Varieties of Flowers and Plants on Display

According to the organizers, more than 450 varieties of flowers and plants will be displayed and made available for sale during the exhibition. The collection will include commercially produced Godawari flowers grown in Nepal, along with new varieties introduced this year.

In addition to Godawari flowers, visitors will find seasonal flowers commonly used during Tihar, including marigolds and Makhamali (globe amaranth), as well as a wide range of ornamental plants suitable for home gardens and landscaping.

The exhibition will feature 86 stalls, comprising 78 commercial stalls, four official stalls, two competition stalls, one plant clinic, and one photo selfie stall.

The event is expected to attract flower enthusiasts, home gardeners, prospective growers, and commercial floriculture businesses seeking new products and cultivation opportunities.

Five Categories of Godawari Flowers to Compete

The exhibition will feature competitions in five major categories of Godawari flowers: Miniature, Spider, Reflex, Incurve, and Cut Flower.

A new category, “Best Floral Arrangement,” has been introduced under the Cut Flower segment this year to further encourage creativity and professional floral design.

Nurseries and firms winning first, second, and third positions in the respective categories, along with the best stall award, will receive shields, cash prizes, and certificates.

The competitions are intended to encourage growers to improve flower quality, expand varietal diversity, adopt better production practices, and develop their floral arrangement skills.

Plant Clinic to Offer Expert Advice

Beyond showcasing and selling flowers, the exhibition will provide practical information on flower cultivation, production techniques, and plant management.

A dedicated plant clinic staffed by plant disease experts will offer visitors plant health assessments and technical advice on identifying and managing plant diseases and pests.

The facility is expected to benefit both household gardeners and commercial growers by helping them identify plant health problems and adopt appropriate management practices.

Visitors interested in growing flowers in home gardens, balconies, or limited spaces will also have an opportunity to explore suitable plants and learn about their care and maintenance.

Boosting Domestic Flower Sales During Tihar and Chhath

Demand for flowers traditionally rises during Tihar and Chhath, when households and public spaces are decorated with flowers for religious rituals and festive celebrations.

The exhibition is expected to provide domestic flower producers with a direct market for their products while giving consumers access to a wide range of flowers and ornamental plants in one location.

FAN has set a sales target of more than Rs. 13 million and expects over 39,000 visitors. Achieving these targets would support the promotion of locally grown flowers and expand market opportunities for nurseries and floriculture enterprises.

The exhibition will also allow businesses to showcase their products, connect with potential customers, and gain insights into consumer preferences during the festive season.

By linking seasonal demand with domestic production, the organizers hope to strengthen the market for locally grown flowers and encourage greater commercial investment in Nepal’s floriculture sector.

Blood Donation Program to Be Organized

As part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, the exhibition will also host a blood donation program in collaboration with the Lions Club of Global Floriculture.

The initiative will add a social service component to the five-day event, which combines commercial activities, flower competitions, technical consultations, and public engagement.

The 19th Godawari Flower Competition and Exhibition is expected to serve as a platform for promoting domestic flower production, encouraging commercial floriculture, and connecting growers with consumers during one of Nepal’s busiest flower-buying seasons.
