" Women and girls face severe Climate Change impact. GBV persisting within communities are both cause and impact of Climate Change. BRCRN ensures women and girls are effectively engaged in the process of building Climate Resilient Sustainable Natural Resource Management. Hence, addressing GBV is important to address the barriers to effectively participate and minimize impact of Climate Change. BRCRN takes the opportunity to join global campaign of 16 days of activism against GBV to celebrate the work as well as make communities aware of acting to eliminate GVB to achieve climate resilient communities," says Sushila Kumari Thapa Magar, the project's National Gender and Indigenous Peoples Specialist.
A jury will select 16 entries from among the submissions, which will be published on the BRCRN's social media. One entry will be published each day from November 25 to December 10. Five of those compositions will be awarded.
About BRCRN
Building a Resilient Churia Region in Nepal (BRCRN) is Nepal's first project funded by GCF (Green Climate Fund). The Government of Nepal (GoN) implements the project through the Ministry of Forests and Environment (MoFE Nepal), with technical support from FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization).
BRCRN aims to promote widespread adoption of climate-resilient land-use practices, confront the challenges of deforestation and forest degradation, better maintain the forest ecosystem in the Churia hills, and build resilience to climate-induced hazards.
BRCRN works in 26 vulnerable river systems in Central and Eastern Churia regions of Nepal. The project covers 702,011 hectares (ha) of land, excluding settlements and water bodies.
