काठमाडौं, नव-निर्वाचित अध्यक्ष डा. हेमराज शर्मा नेतृत्वको गैरआवासीय नेपाली संघ (NRNA) को प्रतिनिधिमण्डलले काठमाडौंस्थित सिंहदरबारमा परराष्ट्र मन्त्रालयसँग शिष्टाचार भेट गरेको छ। उक्त भेटवार्तामा विश्वभर रहेका नेपाली डायस्पोराको हित प्रवर्द्धनमा एनआरएनए र नेपाल सरकारबीचको सहकार्यलाई अझ सुदृढ बनाउने विषयमा जोड दिइएको थियो।

नव-निर्वाचित नेतृत्वका तर्फबाट बोल्दै डा. शर्माले नेपाल सरकारको निरन्तर सहयोगप्रति आभार व्यक्त गर्दै एनआरएनएभित्र एकता कायम गर्न सरकारको भूमिकाको प्रशंसा गर्नुभयो।

भेटका क्रममा माननीय मन्त्रीले नव-निर्वाचित एनआरएनए टोलीलाई बधाई दिँदै संघ एकताबद्ध रहँदै १२औं अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय महासभा (IGA) तथा विश्व सम्मेलन २०८२ सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न गरेकोमा खुशी व्यक्त गर्नुभयो। उहाँले एनआरएनएका पहलहरूमा मन्त्रालयको निरन्तर सहयोग रहने प्रतिबद्धता समेत व्यक्त गर्नुभयो।
नयाँ नेतृत्व तथा सम्पूर्ण टोलीलाई बधाई दिँदै माननीय मन्त्रीले देशको सामाजिक–आर्थिक विकासमा योगदान पुर्‍याउन समन्वयात्मक र परिणाममुखी ढङ्गले सँगसँगै काम गर्नुको महत्व औंल्याउनुभयो।
माननीय मन्त्री बालानन्द शर्माले भन्नुभयो, “मलाई एनआरएनएसँग काम गर्ने तथा एनआरएन र गैरआवासीय नेपालीहरूलाई नजिकबाट चिन्ने अवसर मिल्यो। एनआरएनएले उठाएका मुद्दाप्रति म सकारात्मक छु र हामी सक्दो सहयोग गर्नेछौं। नयाँ संसद सदस्यहरूसँग पनि समन्वय गर्न सुझाव दिन्छु, र आगामी सरकार पनि यसप्रति सकारात्मक रहनेमा विश्वस्त छु। स्पष्ट दृष्टि र मिशनसहित आएका नव-निर्वाचित अध्यक्षलाई हामी पूर्ण सहयोग गर्नेछौं।”
यस अवसरमा परराष्ट्र सचिव श्री अमृत बहादुर राईले नयाँ टोलीलाई बधाई दिँदै सफल कार्यकालको शुभकामना व्यक्त गर्नुभयो र एनआरएनएको स्थापना उद्देश्यहरू प्रभावकारी रूपमा पूरा गर्न उनीहरूको क्षमतामा विश्वास व्यक्त गर्नुभयो।
परराष्ट्र सचिव अमृत बहादुर राइले भन्नुभयो, “एनआरएनएले १२औं अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय महासभा सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न गरेकोमा हामी खुशी छौं र आगामी दिनमा सहकार्य गर्न तत्पर छौं। नेपाली डायस्पोरा विश्वभर विस्तार हुँदै गएको देख्दा पनि हामी उत्साहित छौं। एनआरएनए नेपाल सरकारको विश्वासिलो साझेदार हो। गैरआवासीय नेपाली नागरिकताको मुद्दा छिट्टै समाधान हुनेछ। नव-निर्वाचित टोलीलाई बधाई।”

भेटका क्रममा अध्यक्ष डा. हेमराज शर्माले एनआरएनएद्वारा तयार गरिएको मध्यपूर्व क्षेत्रको बैठकको निर्णय प्रतिवेदन मन्त्रालयलाई हस्तान्तरण गर्नुभयो, जसमा उक्त क्षेत्रका नेपालीहरूको अवस्था, राहत कार्यक्रम तथा आवश्यक कदमहरूको विस्तृत विवरण समेटिएको छ।

उहाँले हालै सम्पन्न आईसीसी बैठकहरूको संक्षिप्त जानकारी दिँदै मध्यपूर्व संकटसम्बन्धी छलफल र निर्णयहरू प्रस्तुत गर्नुभयो। साथै, संकटमा परेका नेपालीहरूको सहयोगार्थ वैदेशिक रोजगार राहत कोषका लागि १ करोड रुपैयाँ संकलन गरिएको जानकारी दिनुभयो। नेपाली डायस्पोरासम्बन्धी ‘ह्वाइट पेपर’ तयार भइरहेको उल्लेख गर्दै रोजगारीका अवसर र गैरआवासीय नेपाली नागरिकताको विषयमा केन्द्रित भई डायस्पोरासँगको सम्बन्ध सुदृढ गर्ने लक्ष्य रहेको बताउनुभयो।

उपाध्यक्ष मनोज श्रेष्ठले बैठकका प्रमुख निर्णयहरू प्रस्तुत गर्दै मध्यपूर्वमा रहेका नेपालीहरूको हितका लागि समन्वित प्रयास भइरहेको जानकारी दिनुभयो। उपाध्यक्ष चिन्तामणि सापकोटाले स्पेनमा रहेका नेपालीहरूले भोगिरहेका राहदानी तथा आप्रवासन समस्याहरू उठाउनुभयो भने यज्ञ नारायण पौडेलले ती विषयहरूमा सरकारको तत्काल सहयोग आवश्यक रहेको बताउनुभयो। उपाध्यक्ष रामशरण सिम्खडाले पूर्वी युरोपमा देखिएका प्रहरी प्रतिवेदनसम्बन्धी समस्या तथा विदेशस्थित गोर्खा सैनिकहरूले भोगिरहेका चुनौतीहरूबारे ध्यानाकर्षण गराउँदै तत्काल हस्तक्षेपको माग गर्नुभयो।

मध्यपूर्व आपतकालीन बैठकका मुख्य निर्णयहरूमा: मध्यपूर्वमा रहेका नेपालीहरूका लागि राहत तथा उद्धार कार्यक्रम सञ्चालन; आकस्मिक खाद्य, आवास र स्वास्थ्य सेवाको सुनिश्चितता; स्वदेश फर्किन चाहने नेपालीहरूलाई टिकट, भिसा तथा चार्टर्ड उडानमार्फत सहयोग (नेपाल एयरलाइन्स र हिमालय एयरलाइन्ससँग समन्वय गरी); दूतावासस्तरमा आपतकालीन कार्यदल गठन तथा साउदी अरेबियाको दम्मामस्थित नेपाली दूतावास पुनः सञ्चालन; आपतकालीन कोष स्थापना र पारदर्शी व्यवस्थापन; गलत सूचनाको रोकथाम तथा सचेतनामूलक कार्यक्रम सञ्चालन (कल सेन्टर र हटलाइन सहित); कतार, बहराइन, इराक र ओमानजस्ता संवेदनशील देशहरूमा रहेका नेपालीहरूको सुरक्षा तयारी; विदेशमा निधन भएका नेपालीहरूको व्यवस्थापन तथा स्वदेश फिर्ता; तथा परराष्ट्र मन्त्रालय, एनआरएनए, राष्ट्रिय समन्वय परिषद्, वैदेशिक रोजगारसम्बन्धी संघ–संस्था लगायत सरोकारवालाहरूको सहभागितामा ‘मध्यपूर्व आपतकालीन समन्वय समिति’ गठन रहेका छन्।

डा. शर्माले मध्यपूर्वमा कार्यरत २० लाखभन्दा बढी नेपाली श्रमिकहरूको अवस्थाप्रति सरकार गम्भीर रहनुपर्ने आग्रह गर्दै यस संवेदनशील समयमा एनआरएनए सरकारसँग सहकार्य गर्न पूर्ण रूपमा तयार रहेको बताउनुभयो। उहाँले गैरआवासीय नेपालीहरू नेपालका सामाजिक तथा आर्थिक विकासमा निरन्तर योगदान गर्न प्रतिबद्ध रहेको पनि दोहोर्याउनुभयो।

कार्यक्रममा वरिष्ठ उपाध्यक्ष रोविन प्रसाद शेरचन, उपाध्यक्षहरू, आईईएस तथा ओबी सदस्यहरू, आईसीसी सदस्यहरू, एनसीसी अध्यक्षहरू तथा विभिन्न देशका गैरआवासीय नेपालीहरूको उपस्थिति रहेको थियो। परराष्ट्र मन्त्रालयका सचिव, सहसचिव तथा अन्य अधिकारीहरूको समेत सहभागिता रहेको उक्त भेटले एनआरएनए र मन्त्रालयबीचको समन्वय र सहकार्यलाई थप सुदृढ बनाएको छ।

NRNA Leadership Holds Courtesy Meeting with Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Kathmandu, March 20, 2026 — Delegates from the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), led by newly elected President Dr. Hem Raj Sharma, held a courtesy meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Singha Durbar, Kathmandu. The meeting highlighted the strong partnership between NRNA and the Government of Nepal in supporting the welfare of the Nepali diaspora worldwide.

While congratulating the new leadership and the entire team, the Hon. Minister underscored the importance of working together in a coordinated and result-oriented manner to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

During the meeting, the Minister congratulated the newly elected NRNA team, expressing happiness that the association remains united and successfully conducted the 12th International General Assembly (IGA) and Global Conference 2082. The Minister also reaffirmed the Ministry’s ongoing support for NRNA initiatives.

Minister Honorable Balananda Sharan stated, “I had the opportunity to work with NRNA and get to know NRNA and NRNs. I am happy and very positive about the issues raised by NRNA, and we will do our best. I also suggest coordinating with new parliament members, and I am confident the coming government will be very positive too. We will support the newly elected President, who has a clear new vision and mission for NRNA.”

On the occasion, Foreign Secretary Mr. Amrit Bahadur Rai congratulated the new team and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure, expressing confidence in their ability to effectively deliver on the founding goals of the NRNA.
Secretary Rai stated, “We are happy that NRNA has successfully concluded the 12th IGA and we look forward to working together. We are also happy to see the Nepali diaspora expanding and establishing itself globally. NRNA is a trusted partner of the Government of Nepal. The issue of NRN citizenship will be resolved soon. Congratulations to the newly elected team.”

During the meeting, President Dr. Hem Raj Sharma handed over the meeting minutes of the Middle East region, prepared by NRNA, providing a detailed record of discussions, decisions, and relief measures for Nepalis in the region.

Dr. Sharma also provided a brief overview of the recent ICC meetings, highlighting NRNA’s discussions and decisions regarding the Middle East crisis. He further highlighted that NRNA has raised Rs. 1 Crore for the Foreign Employment Relief Fund to support Nepalis in distress. He also highlighted the preparation of a White Paper on the Nepali diaspora, focusing on employment opportunities and NRN citizenship matters, emphasizing the association’s vision for strengthening diaspora engagement.

Vice President Manoj Shrestha highlighted the key decisions of the meeting, emphasizing NRNA’s coordinated efforts for the welfare of Nepalis in the Middle East. Vice President Chinta Mani Sapkota raised concerns regarding passport and immigration issues faced by Nepalis in Spain, while Yagya Narayan Paudel elaborated on these issues, seeking timely government support for affected Nepalis. Vice President Ram Sharan Simkhada raised concerns regarding police report issues in Eastern Europe and also highlighted challenges faced by Gurkhas abroad, urging prompt government intervention.

Key decisions from the Middle East Emergency Meeting include: coordinated relief and rescue programs for Nepalis in the Middle East, ensuring emergency food, shelter, and health services; assistance for Nepalis wishing to return, including ticketing, visas, and chartered flights in coordination with Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines; formation of embassy task forces for emergency management and reopening the Nepal Embassy in Dammam, Saudi Arabia; establishment of an Emergency Fund and transparent management of contributions for relief and rescue; measures to prevent misinformation and conduct awareness programs, including call centers and hotlines; preparations for Nepalis in sensitive countries such as Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, and Oman, including legal and employment support; management and repatriation of deceased Nepalis abroad; and formation of a Middle East Emergency Coordination Committee comprising the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NRNA, the National Coordination Committee, Foreign Employment Associations, and other stakeholders.

Dr. Sharma urged the Government of Nepal to remain attentive to the situation of over two million Nepali migrant workers in the Middle East, assuring that NRNA is ready to collaborate with the government during this critical period. He reaffirmed that Nrn s remain committed to contributing to Nepal’s socio-economic development.

Senior Vice President Robin Prasad Sherchan, Vice Presidents, IES and OB members, ICC members, NCC Presidents, and NRNs from various countries were also present. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary, Joint Secretary, and other MoFA officers attended as well, reflecting strong coordination and continued partnership between NRNA and the Ministry.
