Malaysia–Nepal Education Collaboration Highlighted at “Study in Malaysia” Networking Dinner in Kathmandu


Kathmandu, Nepal: A high-level Malaysian delegation comprising senior diplomatic officials and education sector leaders participated in the “Study in Malaysia” Networking Dinner held in Kathmandu, reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening educational collaboration with Nepal.

The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Mohd Firdaus Azman, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu, who emphasized Malaysia’s growing role as a preferred higher education destination for Nepali students. In his address, he highlighted Malaysia’s globally recognized universities, multicultural learning environment, and strong academic-industry linkages.

Among the Special Guests was Mr. Azrael bin Syamsul Rizal, Head of Chancery at the Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu, who underscored the Embassy’s continuous support in promoting educational cooperation and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The program also featured key representatives from Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). Mr. Moeen Ahmed, Regional Manager – South Asia (Marketing, Communications & Branding), and Mr. Mohamad Azni, Senior Regional Executive – South Asia, presented insights on Malaysia’s higher education ecosystem, student mobility opportunities, and streamlined student visa processes. They highlighted Malaysia’s strategic position as an affordable, high-quality education hub in Asia.

Adding academic perspective, Mr. Ahmed Afshan Haneef, Assistant Manager – Student Services and Marketing at Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU), Kuala Lumpur, shared information on industry-focused programs, innovation-driven learning, and career opportunities available to international students in Malaysia.

The networking dinner brought together education consultants, institutional partners, and stakeholders from Nepal, providing a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and partnership building. Discussions focused on expanding academic cooperation, increasing student exchange, and enhancing awareness of Malaysia’s diverse higher education offerings.

Organized under the Study in Malaysia initiative, the event reflected Malaysia’s strategic efforts to engage with South Asian markets and foster long-term educational relationships. Participants welcomed the initiative as a timely opportunity to deepen bilateral cooperation and promote Malaysia as a trusted destination for higher education among Nepali students.
